A new Farmstro

After further review, JackCassel, is officially a Farmstro. For your information, my definition of a Farmstro is a player in the Houston system who has never been on a major league roster except for during the September call-up period or the off-season. The right-hander, Cassel, 28, did spend some time in a San Diego uniform last Fall, going 1 and 1 with a 3.97 ERA in six appearances(23 IP). However, all appearances occurred in September so Cassel is still eligible for his Farmstro membership card.

I don't know why the Astros signed this guy to a ML contract. Very mediocre AAA record. I suppose after trading away all but one of our high-level minors starter prospects, we're to the point of gambling on Padres castoffs. Or maybe this is just to add pitching depth at RR this year.

This is the first comment I've posted on here. I appreciate you running this blog. The Chronicle's coverage of Astros minor league developments is pitiful. McTaggart just regurgitates whatever the team farm director tells him, without in-depth or on-site reporting. I look forward to checking this site during the season.
