A Barmes' Departure could bring an Extra 2012 Draft Pick

Astros Shortstop Clint Barmes has been classified as a Type B Free Agent heading into the off-season. This designation means that if Barmes signs elsewhere before November 23, Houston will receive a compensatory pick for him in the 2012 draft. Further, if he doesn't sign before then, the Astros offer him arbitration and he consequently signs elsewhere, the Astros will also receive an extra pick on June 4, 2012.
