Hinze has a Bat: Baseballs in Arizona Beware

During the 2011 regular season, Kody Hinze showed no mercy on baseballs in California and Texas. In the off-season, he has moved his attack on the rawhide to a state in between those places: Arizona.

In the first week of the Arizona Fall League season, the Astros first base prospect already has seven hits, one double, two home runs and six RBI in 15 at bats. Hinze, who led the Astros organization with 29 home runs and 98 RBI in a regular season split between Lancaster and Corpus Christi, is making his final case for a spot on Houston's 40-man roster prior to December's Rule 5 draft.

In another Arizona note, Hinze was joined in the Salt River lineup Monday evening by Jason Castro. It was the first appearance in Arizona for Castro, who has been recovering from a rib cage injury. He went 0 for 3 with a walk.
