James Van Ostrand is playing in Panama too. While Team USA has Andy Van Hekken, Team Canada will have some Astros' representatives in this month's World Cup as well. James Van Ostrand, 1B, Emerson Frostad,C, are on the roster for the Canadian squad. Stubby Clapp, who managed the Tri-City Valley Cats in 2011 is with Team Canada as a coach.
Also, Marlon Avea, a catcher who spent the 2011 season with the Dominican Astros, will be representing Nicaragua in the competition.
The International Baseball Federation website is offering coverage of the event as well as paid subscriptions to watch over 50 games of the tournament live.
