Gillingham vs. the Astros of the Future in 2012

With the completion of the Wilton Lopez trade Tuesday night, a few more new faces are on the guest list for Houston's 2013 Spring Training.  Alex Gillingham, 23, the minor league pitcher acquired in the trade from Colorado, will have his share of introductions to go through when he arrives in Kissimmee.  However, his pitching will be familiar to some of the players in the Astros' minor league camp.

Gillingham spent 2012 with Asheville of the South Atlantic Leauge.  Two of his 19 starts during the season came against the Astros' Low A affiliate, Lexington.  In those two starts against the Legends, Gillingham pitched 14 innings, allowing 16 hits and four earned runs. He walked one and struck out 12.  Over-all in 2012, Gillingham had a 3.66 ERA in 123 innings pitched for the Tourists.
