It will be at least a few seasons until Daniel Minor gets a chance to pitch for the Corpus Christi Hooks. However, the Dripping Springs native will be honored by the team next month. Minor, who was selected in the ninth round of the 2012 draft by Houston, will be honored as one of two college baseball players of the year at January's South Texas Winter Baseball Banquet.
Minor pitched 110 innings and posted a 2.20 ERA for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in 2012 before being drafted into the Astros' organization. He was the Islanders team MVP. He made 11 starts as a professional for the Astros' affiliate in Greeneville.
The banquet is scheduled for January 23 in Corpus Christi. The 2013 gathering will be the Hooks' ninth annual celebration of baseball in South Texas.
