I know some
people have soured on Villar since he lost that fight with a door. However, I still have him as a very legit SS prospect
based on the fact that toolsy shorstops are incredibly rare. Villar is a switch hitter who has some pop
and shows off really good speed.
As a hitter, he is much better from the right side of the plate. He tends to slash a little from the left side,
but it's a work in progress. He shows
flashes of being a plus defender if he can clean up the sloppy errors. Hitting is what will dictate Villar's future. If he can hit in the majors, he will be an
Astros SS for a long time.
